Freezing conditions on site - controlled warmth inside the formwork. 🔥 Winter concreting brings specific challenges, especially when low temperatures affect concrete strength development and cycle times. On several projects in the Czech Republic, teams have been working with the Intelligent Heated Formwork (IHF) Prototype to maintain stable conditions directly at the concrete surface - even when outside temperatures drop well below freezing. ❄️ After extensive testing in Northern Europe, the system has already proven its value in the Czech Republic - for example on a parking structure in Jihlava and on a residential project in Prague-Malešice, where Skanska selected the solution for parts of the building’s walls. One application of the IHF is concreting under low-temperature conditions. By providing controlled heat directly within the formwork, it supports consistent curing during the critical early phase and enables reliable progress even in winter. Beyond cold-weather applications, the system also creates the conditions needed for the efficient use of concrete mixes with a reduced carbon footprint. Sweden’s longest escalator on a 30-degree incline is taking shape. 🏗️ As part of the expansion of the Stockholm metro by Region Stockholm, the new Nacka Station is taking shape - including Sweden’s longest escalator, approximately 100 metres long with a vertical difference of 41 metres. For the construction of the escalator shaft Doka designed an SL-1 Tunnel traveller combined with Doka UniKit to enable precise forming even on a 30-degree incline. The pre-assembled 80-tonne Tunnel traveller was assembled horizontally outside the tunnel before it was positioned at the desired angle and lowered. 🚀 The video below shows the exact project workflow - demonstrating that when it really matters, our solutions make it work. Designed for the precise positioning of DokaXdek formwork panels up to 5.7 metres, the robot compensates for floor unevenness and supports controlled, repeatable movements during overhead work. Automatic height adjustment and sensor-based fine positioning of the panels help take over physically demanding tasks. How do you keep ambitious timelines on track in one of Colombia’s most space-restricted urban environments? 🤔 Sun City, a modern residential tower, is rising in the dense urban fabric of Cartagena de Indias. Developed by ACTÚA DESARROLLOS S.A.S. in partnership with Urbaiberica-Urbacolombia, the project stands out for its sea-view apartments and for the complex site conditions it faces. The project faced several challenges - limited logistics space and demanding schedules, which required well-coordinated planning to keep construction on track. As Project Manager Ricardo Outten explains, “Sun City is being built under very tight space constraints. With Doka climbing systems, we are enabling fast progress and efficient logistics - despite the challenges.” 🚀 To make this possible, Doka developed a customized formwork concept for the central core.
