Manufactured at our UK workshop, the roof is now undergoing testing and preparation for painting and final assembly ahead of delivery to British Steel's steelworks, located just two miles away. 🏭 The project highlights the strength of local manufacturing, supporting jobs, skills, and the regional economy through a highly localized supply chain. It also reinforces the long-standing partnership between Primetals Technologies and British Steel, two companies with deep roots in Scunthorpe's industrial heritage. 🔥 A ladle furnace roof is a critical, water-cooled component in the secondary steelmaking process. Operating in an extremely harsh environment, it is exposed to temperatures of up to 1,800°C, making robust design and high-quality manufacturing essential for reliability and longevity. Its purpose is to contain the molten metal, link with the gas extraction system, and provide access for the heating electrodes and alloying additions. Bereits Anfang Juli wurde ein weiterer 40-MVA-Transformator angeliefert. Gemeinsam bilden die vier Transformatoren künftig das Groß-Umspannwerk, das die Verbindung zwischen dem 110-kV-Netz und unserem Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) sicherstellt. They can also be fitted with combination burner/injector systems that enable operators to inject gases when needed throughout the process, helping to boost both efficiency and safety. 📈 Many of the nose panels currently being manufactured are designed for integration with our Refining Combined Burner (RCB) technology - a multifunctional system that combines heating, oxygen injection, stirring, and slag foaming into a single tool.
