How do we turn emerging AI concepts into real industrial value? We know that true innovation is never a solo act. It takes shared expertise and active collaboration across disciplines. Last week, on October 1st, we hosted our Rotax Innovation Symposium at our headquarters in Gunskirchen. We brought together curious employees, external industry experts, and thought leaders to explore how smart technologies are transforming daily operations. Our schedule was packed with inspiring sessions. We covered real AI value in manufacturing, smart fleet service concepts for aviation, precision NC coding, and practical ways to build trust in automated systems. We also ran a hands-on transformation workshop and honored our top internal innovators during the Idea Management Ceremony. A full day with curious minds who want to shape the future, making the event a complete success. What does it actually mean to be a family-friendly employer? For us, the answer looked like this: In August when 66 children of our employees spent two weeks in a holiday care program on site in Gunskirchen. Together with our long-term partner Familienbund Oberösterreich GmbH, we ran this holiday care program at the RIC (Regional Innovation Centre) in Gunskirchen built specifically to support employees in balancing career and family during the 9 week Austrian summer break. This isn't a one-off: the partnership with the RIC and the Familienbund OÖ goes back years, and it's become something employees can genuinely look forward to. It’s just one of many examples of what employer responsibility looks like in practice, not just in a policy document: reliable childcare during the weeks when working parents need it most. "A reliable childcare offer is an important support for many of our employees in everyday life. With Familienbund OÖ, we have a strong and experienced partner at our side," says Mario Gebetshuber, General Manager of BRP-Rotax. Between building electric-powered toy vehicles and programming a space probe, curiosity did most of the heavy lifting this summer and it turns out a healthy dose of technical curiosity is just as much fun at eight years old as it is on our Rotax test benches onsite ;)! Ever wondered who designs the brains behind a high-performance powertrain? ⚡️ Meet Manuel Reischer, Series Hardware Developer at BRP-Rotax Vienna. Manuel takes ideas and turns them into physical hardware, specifically the advanced control units and inverters that power our vehicles. He creates the schematics, runs the PCB layouts, and works hands-on in the lab until the tech is ready for the field. What makes his job special is the incredible variety. BRP-Rotax Vienna, located in Kottingbrunn (near Vienna) is a massive playground for tech, covering everything from mechatronics and software design to advanced vehicle architecture for the global BRP lineup. Whether it is a Ski-Doo snowmobile or a Can-Am offroad vehicle, Manuel’s daily work directly shapes how these machines think and react. "Electronics inspire me to shape innovative products through unique project challenges," Manuel says. "The huge variety of products here keeps things exciting. What does life as a Rotax trainee look like? 📆 Day 5: Managing the livestream for our Innovation & Technology Symposium. 📆 Month 2: Flying to the RMC Grand Finals in Bahrain to help coordinate the spectacular Luke Czepiela flyover and Abdo Feghali’s drift show. ✈️💨 "The highlight was definitely sitting in the car during the drift show—an unforgettable experience," Christoph says. But it’s not all about the thrills; it’s about the impact. "The best part is seeing the visitors happy and knowing you contributed to that joy." Our apprentices really shined during the recent visit of Federal Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism @wolfganghattmannsdorfer ! 🌟 It was a great opportunity for our next generation to speak directly with the Federal Minister about their daily work and the various apprenticeship paths we offer here at BRP-Rotax. They shared insights into their training and what it takes to develop the skills of tomorrow. As a special highlight, the team presented the Federal Minister with a unique, self-made gift: a Can-Am Spyder trophy, crafted right here in our workshop. This project perfectly shows the creativity and technical precision our apprentices bring to the table every day. We are incredibly proud to see so much talent and passion in our team. From Gunskirchen to Finland: An Exchange Experience Two of our apprenticeship trainees in industrial business management, Lena and Katharina, had the unique opportunity to spend two weeks at our BRP site in Finland as part of their international exchange program. They immersed themselves in new workflows, met dedicated colleagues, and experienced how another BRP location operates. During their stay, they explored the production facilities, observed the assembly line in action, and saw firsthand how tightly logistics, production, and quality control work together. And outside the workplace? Finland’s breathtaking landscapes – calm lakes, endless forests, and crisp northern air – made the experience even more memorable. What stood out most? “The openness and support of the Finnish team made our stay incredibly enriching.” A warm thank you to everyone on-site for welcoming Lena and Katharina so warmly. These two weeks were not just part of their training – but a truly inspiring and empowering chapter.
