A milestone for sustainable logistics architecture in Germany: Today marks the official opening of MAK 2.0 in Marktredwitz – a next-generation distribution hub for EDEKA. What started with a groundbreaking in July 2021 has now evolved into a large-scale logistics operation, already in ramp-up and set for full commissioning in Q2 2026. WIEHAG is proud to have played a key role in this milestone project — contributing our full timber engineering, production and construction expertise to deliver a high-performance structural solution in wood. Timber Hotspot Update: Atlassian Central, Sydney Above the steel and concrete, TIMBER is now defining Sydney’s skyline. At Atlassian Central, WIEHAG’s glulam timber beams are forming the first three timber habitats — a major milestone in the rise of the world’s tallest commercial hybrid timber tower. After months of structural groundwork, the timber phase is well and truly underway: ✔ The concrete core and podium are complete ✔ WIEHAG’s prefabricated glulam timber elements are being installed level by level ✔ The first three habitats are now clearly visible above the podium WIEHAG’s glulam structure is shaping the building’s signature engineered timber zones — three-level sections suspended between concrete slabs, ultimately housed within the tower’s distinctive steel diagrid. 📍 Located beside Sydney’s Central Station, Atlassian Central is being co-owned by Dexus and Atlassian, and being delivered by Built and Obayashi Corporation (BOJV). When complete, it will be the tallest commercial hybrid timber tower in the world — a global reference for sustainable high-rise construction. Timber Hotspot Update: LIFE Campus Hamburg – Präzision, die verbindet Mit dem Einheben der Verbindungselemente im Erdgeschoß der Agora wurde am LIFE Campus Hamburg ein bedeutender Meilenstein erreicht: Alle fünf Baukörper sind nun verbunden. Was in der digitalen Modellplanung bis ins letzte Detail vorausgedacht wurde, ist nun durch millimetergenaue WIEHAG Präzision Wirklichkeit geworden. Eine besondere Herausforderung lag in der passgenauen Montage der über 60 Einzelteile mit maximal 5 mm Toleranz pro Anschluss – über einen maximalen Abstand der Gebäudekörper zueinander von fast 47m. Diese Maßarbeit setzt höchste Genauigkeit und ein nahtloses Zusammenspiel aller Projektphasen voraus – vom WIEHAG Timber Engineering, über unsere CNC-gesteuerte Fertigung bis hin zur exakten Montage vor Ort. Die WIEHAG Leistungen sollen laut aktueller Terminplanung bis zum Jahresende abgeschlossen sein. Die Fassadenarbeiten schreiten rasch voran, die einzelnen Gebäudekörper werden sukzessive geschlossen. Mit der Decke über dem 1. Timber Hotspot Update: LIFE Campus Hamburg – Precision that defines connection With the installation of the final timber connectors in the Agora’s first floor, a key milestone has been reached at the LIFE HAMBURG Campus: all five buildings are now structurally united – a high-precision execution of what was digitally orchestrated down to the last detail. The challenge: over 60 individual components, assembled with a tolerance of no more than 5 mm per joint – bridging nearly 47 metres. This required absolute precision across all disciplines and project stages: from parametrically driven engineering and CNC-controlled manufacturing to on-site installation under tight geometric constraints. This hybrid, large-scale timber solution is a prime example of architectural ambition, logistical complexity and structural clarity – delivered within a dense urban context. It demonstrates the potential of engineered timber to shape both process and space. The next steps are already underway: façades are closing, volumes are being defined, and the final timber elements – including the Agora’s roof and upper floor slab – are scheduled for installation in the coming weeks.
